In 2019, Our founder's family was in a position that would be difficult for anyone to go through. Their child developed substance abuse issues that severely impacted his mental health. Thankfully, a treatment facility was found that would also accept their insurance. They soon discovered that 50% coverage is all most insurance companies pay for mental health treatment in a facility needed for a dual diagnosis of substance abuse and mental health. A 45-day stay in this type of facility cost 45,000, 50% of which had to be paid out of pocket. Without the funds, their son would not have received the treatment he desperately needed. We know first-hand of the financial stress this could put on a family during a time that should be focused on helping a loved one get better.
At Cann Make A Difference, our mission is to ensure that NO individual or family is forced into bankruptcy or foreclosure due to seeking necessary treatment.
